Pushkar camel fair is a grand display of Rajasthan's cultural and social spirit - spellbounding folk music and dances, camel races, tug-of-war, camel beauty contests and all. During the fair, Pushkar turns into a bustling temporary tent town when thousands of tourists, pilgrims, local rural people, traders, and camels and more camels tread this otherwise sleepy setting.
The grand affair actually centers on the trade mart of camels, horses and bullocks and the holy dip in the sacred waters of Pushkar lake and visit to the Temple of Hindu God of Creation, Brahma (the only one in the world). Tourists & pilgrims from around the world and traders from the nearby states of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir flock in for their respective businesses.
